Tweed based photographer Jaap Roskam kindly provided most of the high-res reference photographs. Above: view north-west to Tyalgum village (see inset) and beyond to the caldera escarpments, and north-east to Murwillumbah and beyond to the Tweed Coast (also see below).
The Panorama project was funded by Tweed Shire Council in conjunction with Destination Tweed and significant in-kind support from CAG members. Reference photographs were initially collated in December 2011 and the artwork subsequently completed in December 2012.
Contributing artists (from left): Cameron Pitcher, Ros Oakes, Christian Griffiths, Barb Suttie, Andy Reimanis, Regina Rossdeutscher, Greg Newland and Mark Comport. Mark Brombal and Jaap Roskam are pictured right.
Various maps were used to accurately gauge distances and confirm landmarks. Most were topographical, but historic maps such as this NSW Forestry Commission map from 1986 proved useful and interesting (note the national parks shaded grey while state forests are in green).
The Panorama also depicts selected flora and fauna species of the Tweed. These were painted by Andy Reimanis, Regina Rossdeutscher, Ros Oakes and Barb Suttie.

South Murwillumbah (images above) was the hardest hit with knee deep water entering the World Heritage Rainforest Centre (where the Panorama and gallery was housed). Subsequent structural damage forced Council to permanently close the centre and gallery.
Thanks to a collaboration between Andy Reimanis, the Court House Hotel, and Tweed Experiences Network, a new home for the panorama and gallery was found with work commencing in June 2017.
